Gift Ideas for Book Lovers

The holiday season is here, which means it's time to go out and fight the freak jobs who inhabit the retail establishments during this time of year. Flying elbows, upraised middle fingers and fisticuffs are usually in good supply at your nearest mall. Rather than waste all your time looking around for the perfect gift, let me suggest a few books that might make good gifts. I've read 'em all in the last few months and you can't go wrong with a single one.
  • Fear - Jeff Abbott
  • The Nymphos of Rocky Flats - Mario Acevedo
  • Hallowed Ground - Lori G. Armstrong
  • Escape Clause - James O. Born
  • The Guiness Book of Me - Stephen Church
  • The Cleanup - Sean Doolittle
  • You Kill Me - Alison Gaylin
  • Shotgun Opera - Victor Gischler
  • The Next Time You Die - Harry Hunsicker
  • Death Without Company - Craig Johnson
  • No Good Deeds - Laura Lippman
  • Secondhand Smoke - Karen E. Olson
  • Good Day in Hell - JD Rhoades
  • The Drummer - Anthony Neil Smith
  • The Becoming - Jeanne C. Stein
  • The Blonde - Duane Swierczynski
  • The Winter of Frankie Machine - Don Winslow
And one other book of note. Banker To The Poor by Muhammad Yunus. The author and the micro-lending bank he created won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. It is an amazing story and demonstrates how seemingly complex problems can be solved with simple solutions. It's labeled as a memoir, but it's way more than that. Check it out.

Happy Holidays to all and see you in 2007!
