Allow Myself to Introduce...Myself

So the book finally comes out this month. After signing the contract in October of 2003 and most of you thinking I was perhaps playing with the truth, it's in stores at this moment or will be tomorrow. Or the day after.

Go buy it. Right away. Hurry. Don't wait. Time is running out.

"Why?" you ask.

Here's ten reasons:

1. When I'm rich and famous, I'll remember you.
2. Or when I'm poor and destitute, you can laugh at me, hold the book up and say "Seriously? You thought THIS was gonna do it?"
3. Everyone needs a good looking book on their nightstand. Or to use as a doorstop…
4. First edition mysteries tend to be valuable. Consider your purchase of this book as a down payment on your kid's tuition.
5. Books make nice gifts for the Fourth of July, Labor Day or any of those other big gift-giving holidays.
6. The book makes a great conversation piece. Granted, not as good as this, but still…
7. You don't wanna be the only one on the block without a copy. (Of course, you'd have to live on the same block as my mother…)
8. It's a cross between The Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter. Sort of. Well, not really, but you'll like it anyway.
9. I may be coming to a bookstore/library/event near you and we don't want to have this awkward conversation:

   Me: So. How'd you like the book?
   You: Book?

10. If YOU write a book, I'll buy it.
