Christmas in June
Last year at this time, I was starting to freak out.
But in a good way.
Killer Swell was only a couple of weeks away from release and much like a mother who has carried her child, oh, maybe two weeks past term, I wanted that sucker out. The build-up had essentially gone on for a year and a half and I wanted nothing more than to see that book on a shelf somewhere.
I thought this year might be a little different, having gone through all the publishing machinations and knowing what the process would be like. But here we are, just a couple of days away from the release of the spiffy paperback version of Killer Swell (the cover is over there to your right and I just got my first copy in the mail and it looks awesome -- probably not as awesome as it might look on your own personal bookshelf, but still…) and about a month away from the release of Wicked Break in hardcover and I'm on pins and needles again. I've heard a few writers talk about how the whole process starts to feel like work at some point. I seriously doubt I'll ever get to that point. It's like Christmas a couple of times a year for me.
I'll hit the road again beginning in July and we're starting to get the dates up on the Appearances link. Check it out and plan your summer vacations around when you can come and see me in Colorado or California or wherever I might be. Visiting the bookstores last summer was easily the biggest thrill last year for me and I'm really looking forward to doing it again and I hope some of you will find a place to stop by and say hello.
I promise - no freaking out.
