Catching Up
I'm finally recovering from the Padres' crushing playoff lost last month to the Cardinals. This is the second year in a row that the Cardinals have vanquished San Diego in the postseason and even though I have relatives in the St. Louis area, I'm really starting to dislike that city. (And, no, being able to say that my team lost to the eventual World Series Champions does not make me feel better -- it just heightens the bitterness.)
Killer Swell also lost in October. It was nominated for the Colorado Book Award in the Popular Fiction category, but we lost out to Margaret Coel. Here, there is no bitterness because, hey, Margaret is a New York Times bestseller, a heckuva writer and a really nice person. I was just happy to be in her company.
Something I've failed to mention the last couple of months -- the oh so cool ezine Demolition was kind enough to publish a short story of mine recently. You can read Twisted Sister here.
And, finally, we're preparing for our first Thanksgiving in Texas. We're ordering a smoked turkey from one of our favorite new restaurants, Red, Hot and Blue and looking forward to the possibility of eighty degree weather on Turkey Day.
I'm done traveling for the rest of the year and plan to spend the time catching up on several projects that I've neglected. But because I'm superstitious, no sneak peeks yet. You'll just have to keep checking back in…
